Lawrence O'Toole

Partner and Head of Design at The Working Assembly

Lawrence O'Toole has extensive experience in the design industry. Lawrence began their career in 1998 as a Senior Art Director at 160over90, where they were responsible for print and digital art direction. In 2001, they moved to Scünci International as a Senior Art Director, where they were responsible for in-house brand development, art direction, identity, advertising, packaging, website and retail design. In 2005, they became a Founding Partner at PRIMER, a full-service agency, where they provided creative direction for clients such as Wharton School of Business, SPEED Channel, adidas Golf, Dickies Workwear and Mercedes Benz USA. In 2010, they became a Design Director, working as a consultant for independent clients and agencies such as Apple, Amalgamated Advertising, Arnold Worldwide, BBH, Collins, Evoke Interaction, Fahrenheit 212, Facebook, Juice, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Nike, Oxygen Network, Plaid Creative, StrawberryFrog, Sullivan, TLC, Rokkan, Victor & Spoils, and Wolff Olins. In 2011, they worked as a Lead Designer at Google Creative Lab, where they were responsible for branding, concept generation, visual design, naming, product development, and interaction design. Lawrence then moved to Euro RSCG as a Contract Design Director, where they were responsible for print and digital advertising and design for clients such as ExxonMobil, Charles Schwab, New York Stock Exchange and Ad Council. Lawrence then moved to Interbrand as a Contract Design Director, where they were responsible for identity and branding design for clients such as Hyatt Hotels, American Airlines, Intel and Apple. In 2012, they became the Global Design Director at Momentum Worldwide, where they were responsible for leading department work for Porsche North America, American Express Access (US Open Tennis, U. S. Open Golf, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Tribeca Film Festival, Unstaged, NBA) and Coca-Cola. In 2013, they became the Partner and Head of Design at The Working Assembly, a NYC-based branding studio, where they partnered with emerging and evolving brands. Theirwork has been featured in AdAge, Fast Company, Business Insider, Communication Arts, The Dieline, AIGA, Under Consideration, Behance, TechCrunch, and Brand Channel.

Lawrence O'Toole attended St. Joseph's Preparatory from 1990 to 1994, where they completed their high school studies. Lawrence then went on to study Graphic Design at Drexel University, where they obtained a BS in Design between 1994 and 1998.
