Dickon Johnstone is the CEO and founder of Themis. Dickon was previously the COO of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi from November 2011 to October 2017. In this role, they were responsible for all retail and wealth operations, including counter services, payments, loans administration, and wholesale operations such as trade finance, global markets, client relations, and financial institutions. Dickon was also responsible for quality assurance, IT, and general services such as change, premises, and procurement.
From October 2017 to July 2019, Johnstone was the country CEO of the UK for First Abu Dhabi Bank. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of the bank's UK operations.
Prior to their work at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Johnstone was the head of strategy and solutions at Abu Dhabi Finance from April 2008 to November 2011. In this role, they were responsible for the launch of new products and services and for managing the bank's overall strategy.
Before joining Abu Dhabi Finance, Johnstone worked as a consultant at Accenture from February 2002 to January 2006. In this role, they advised clients on a variety of strategic and financial issues.
Johnstone has also served as the chair of the Financial Services Sector Skills Council and as a member of the UK Modern Slavery Training Delivery Group.
Dickon Johnstone has an MA (Hons) in French from The University of Edinburgh. Dickon also has certification from the International Compliance Association in Specialist Certificate in TradeBased Money Laundering and International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering. In addition, they have certification from INSEAD in Advanced Value Negotiation Skills and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI) in Introduction to Securities & Investment (International). Dickon also has certification from INSEAD in Blue Ocean Strategy, Institute for Total Quality Management in EFQM Leaders for Excellence, IIR Middle East & The George Washington University in Certificate in Strategic Business Planning, APM Group in MSPP (Managing Successful Programmes) Registered Practitioner, CPD First Regulatory E-Learning in AML / CFT Jersey, and Themis in Anti-Slavery Digital Learning.
