Creative Director at Therapy for Black Girls

Karen Spears is the founder of Kareracter, a design consultancy established in August 2015, specializing in mind-mapping strategies, hand-lettering, branding, and brand management. Currently serving as the Creative Director at Therapy for Black Girls since September 2022, Karen focuses on addressing the mental health needs of Black women and girls through engaging resources and content. Karen co-founded Let’s Vibe, an experience design firm, and also contributed as an instructor for The Gray Matter Experience, facilitating entrepreneurial workshops for African American high school students. Additionally, Karen participated as a Scholar at the Aspen Ideas Festival and served as a Peer Advisor for the Obama Foundation. Previous roles include business development intern at Leo Burnett, mentor for Google Student Ambassadors, Social Innovation Fellow at StartingBloc, and student clerical assistant at MU Craft Studio. Karen holds a degree in Communications from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
