Ian van Roosmalen

Ian van Roosmalen has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field.

Ian currently serves as a Software Engineering Manager at Therma°, where they manage multiple cross-functional engineering teams and contributes hands-on to the code-base. Ian is responsible for creating the technical vision and strategy, executing the engineering roadmap, and optimizing SCRUM processes, resulting in improved team velocity. Ian has also played a key role in growing the team and serving as interim Director of Engineering.

Prior to that, Ian worked as a Sr. Engineering Manager and a Software Engineering Manager at Fanbyte. Ian set department-level KPIs and OKRs, facilitated the Scrum process, and implemented solutions in AWS using Terraform and microservices in Kubernetes. Ian also managed various projects, including a custom ad-framework.

Ian has also worked as a Freelance Software Engineer at Intelematics, a Sr. Software Engineer at Intelematics, a Sr. Specialist Software Engineer at DIRECTV, a Software Engineer at Jukin Media, a Software Engineer at TollFreeForwarding.com, and a Software Engineer Contractor at Corinthian Colleges. Ian gained experience in Java development, full-stack development, and consulting on Alfresco and ECM best practices.

Additionally, Ian started their career as a Junior Software Engineer at XeniT, where they were involved in Java/J2EE development and maintenance and communication with clients and colleagues.

Ian van Roosmalen attended the University of York from 2008 to 2009 where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Music Technology. Prior to that, they studied at Roosevelt Academy, Utrecht University from 2005 to 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics and Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Ian van Roosmalen obtained a Scrum Master Certified (SMC) certification from the Scrum Alliance in April 2019.
