Jussi Puranen has extensive work experience in the field of electrical machines. Jussi started their career in 2003 as a Researcher at Carelian Drives and Motor Centre, where they worked until 2006. In 2006, they joined The Switch as an R&D Manager, responsible for the electromagnetic design and R&D of electrical machines. Their role involved working with global top players in various industries, such as wind turbines, wave and tidal energy systems, marine generators, and industrial applications. In 2016, Jussi transitioned to the role of Product Manager, focusing on Permanent Magnet Machines until 2020. From February to July 2020, they served as the Director of Product Management, specifically for Permanent Magnet Machines. Recently, Jussi became the Head of Product Line for Electric Machines at The Switch.
Jussi Puranen holds a D.Sc. degree in Electrical Machines, which they obtained from LUT University between 2003 and 2006. Prior to that, they completed their M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at the same university from 1998 to 2002.

The Switch engages in the design, development, manufacture, and supply of megawatt-class permanent magnet generator and full-power converter solutions for wind power and other renewable energy applications in Finland and internationally. The company offers megawatt-class generator and converter packages for wind power applications; solar cell powerconverters/inverters; fuel cell inverters; variable speed gensets; and industrial electric drive trains. It also provides field services, including commissioning, preventive maintenance, field analysis, and component replacement; spare parts; and training and technical support services. The Switch Engineering Oy was formerly known as Rotatek Finland Oy and changed its name to The Switch Engineering Oy in December 2006. The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Vantaa, Finland with an additional office in Chennai, India. It has production facilities in Lappeenranta and Vaasa, Finland; Beijing and Lu'an, China; Barcelona, Spain; Hamburg, Germany; and Hudson, New Hampshire.
