Andy Wu

Andy Wu has a diverse work experience in various industries. Andy started their career as a Software Developer at Seiko Epson Corporation, Japan, where they worked on projects involving smart interactive projectors. Andy then moved on to Tokyo University, where they worked as a Research Associate, conducting research on cartilage and bone tissue engineering. During this time, they also managed the laboratory and mentored students.

Andy then joined Teijin as a Business Development professional, where they analyzed unmet medical needs in the Japanese home healthcare sector and worked on business planning and technology transfer of innovative medical solutions. Andy also sourced and conducted due diligence on deals.

After Teijin, Andy joined L.E.K. Consulting as a Life Science Specialist, where they worked on strategy consulting for various clients, including big pharmas, specialty pharmas, med techs, and biotechs. Andy provided expertise in new market entry strategies, alliances/partnerships, portfolio management, growth strategies, and regulatory/reimbursement/pricing strategies for both the Japanese and global markets.

Currently, Andy is working at ThinkCyte as the Director of Business & Corporate Development. Their responsibilities include conducting business and corporate development activities globally, such as US business expansion, strategic partnerships, alliance management, corporate planning, mid/long-term planning, and fundraising. Andy is also involved in product management for hardware, software, and application development, and contributes to marketing strategy materials.

Andy Wu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tokyo, which they obtained from 2012 to 2016. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Tokyo from 2010 to 2012. In their earlier years, Andy earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, which they accomplished from 2005 to 2010. Additionally, they obtained the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 Level certification from the Japanese Education Exchanges and Services in 2011.
