Sam Duffort, CPA has over 10 years of experience in the financial sector. Sam began their career in 2005 as Team Lead, Finance at Red Hat, where they instituted company-wide internal Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting, developed annual budgets and targets with senior management, and analyzed actual results. In 2008, they joined FP&A Consulting as a Financial Consultant, providing financial planning and analysis (FP&A) expertise to private equity backed and high growth companies. Later that year, they joined Duke University as Director of Finance and Business Services (Shared Services), where they owned the financial planning & analysis (FP&A), project accounting and capital plan for 9 business units with an operating budget of $100+ million and capital budget of $180 million. From 2012 to 2015, Sam worked as an Investor at Triangle Angel Partners, and then as Chief Financial Officer at Percona, where they were responsible for all accounting, financial, sales operations, legal and compliance activities for the privately-owned, international, open source SaaS company. In 2018, Sam became a Council Member at GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) and also worked as a CFO and Start-up Advisor, advising founders on various aspects of growing and developing their early stage technology start-ups. In 2020, they joined Commio Voice & Text Messaging and thinQ by Commio as Chief Financial Officer.

Sam Duffort, CPA has a diverse educational background. Sam obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Environmental Studies from the University of Chicago between 1992 and 1996. Sam then went on to earn an MBA in Finance and Supply Chain Management from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School between 2003 and 2005. In September 2018, they obtained a Certified Public Accountant certification from the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners.
