Salma Shahin

Head of Marketing & Comms at Thndr

Salma Shahin is the current Head of Marketing & Comms at Thndr. Salma has over seven years of experience in the marketing and communications field. Prior to their current position, they were an Account Director at IMPACT BBDO from August 2015 to January 2022. In this role, they were responsible for content creation, community management, social strategy recommendations, and on-going analytics reporting for day-to-day clients. Salma also assisted the PR crisis team with social media listening & analysis using digital listening tools such as Radian6 & Tracx.

Previous to their time at IMPACT BBDO, Shahin was a Social + Digital Fellow at FleishmanHillard from June 2014 to June 2015. In this role, they worked closely with the Brand Marketing team on creating overall communication and social media strategies. Salma also assisted with multiple blogger-outreach projects in various phases, by conducting influencer research, creating outreach strategies, drafting pitch emails and managing direct communication.

Shahin began their career as an Assistant Associate at Warschawski in March 2014, before moving on to become a Project Management Intern at Wunderman from September 2013 to December 2013. Most recently, they were the Co-founder & Communications Manager at Cairo Runners from December 2012 to December 2016.

Salma Shahin has a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Maryland, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from The American University in Cairo.

Salma Shahin reports to Ahmad Hammouda, Co-Founder & CEO. They are on a team with Hany Hamdy - Managing Director, Danny Arafa - Senior Creative, and Hatem Safwat - Head of Finance.
