Lee M. Mitchell

Lee Mitchell is a Managing Partner at Thoma Bravo. Based in Chicago, he participated in forming the firm in 1998. Mitchell previously was a Partner in Golder, Thoma, Cressey, Rauner (GTCR) and, before that, the president and CEO of The Field Corporation and its predecessor, Field Enterprises, Inc., which owned and operated businesses in newspaper and educational publishing (including the Chicago Sun-Times and My Weekly Reader), direct marketing, television (including stations in Chicago and San Francisco), cable television and commercial real estate. He also has been a practicing attorney specializing in regulated industries as a Partner with Sidley Austin in Washington, DC and Chicago, and later oversaw that firm’s Asian offices. Mitchell is the former Chairman of The Chicago Stock Exchange, which makes an alternative market in NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks, and Board member and two-time Past Chair of the Metropolitan Planning Council, a group of business and civic leaders committed to the promotion of an equitable and economically competitive Chicago region. He is a trustee of Northwestern University, where he has been Chair of the Investments Committee, and of an affiliate of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he is a member of the Investment Committee and Chair of its Alternative Investments Subcommittee. Mitchell also is a past Chair and PAC Chair of the Illinois Venture Capital Association and active on projects of the American Investment Council (AIC). He received a BA degree from Wesleyan University and a JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
