Matthias Schnell

Matthias Schnell is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in microbiology and immunology. Currently serving as the Professor and Chair of Microbiology and Immunology at Jefferson Medical College since March 2017, Schnell has also held the position of Director at the Jefferson Vaccine Center at Thomas Jefferson University since July 2007. Previously, Schnell was a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College from August 2005 to February 2017 and served as both Associate Professor and Research Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Jefferson Medical College from July 1997 to September 2005. Earlier in the career, Schnell was a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University from 1994 to 1997, focusing on VSV-based vector and the molecular virology of rhabdoviruses.
