Wahab Zia has worked in various roles in the engineering field since 2014. From 2014-2015, they were the Lead Mechanical Engineer at Duro UAS, where they were responsible for solid modeling the frame, pressure vessels, and propulsion systems of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. Wahab was also the President of the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Student Chapter in 2014, where they organized events and workshops to increase awareness of HVAC systems and ASHRAE. Additionally, they were the Chief Engineer of the ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Student Design Competition 2014-2015, where they lead the project design and development for the robots for relief competition. From 2016-2018, Wahab was the Project Lead Engineer at Rockwell Automation, where they determined Lockout procedures of manufacturing and industrial equipment. Currently, they are the BAS Controls Engineer and Project Manager at Thomas S. Brown Associates, Inc., where they are responsible for conducting planned preventative maintenance of DDC systems and troubleshooting issues related to automated HVAC Controls. In 2014, they were also an intern at Greenstar Hub, where they assisted with business development of market penetration to minority owned NYC small businesses.
Wahab Zia completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York between 2009 and 2015. Wahab then pursued a Certificate in Building Design from NYU School of Professional Studies with a focus in Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration (HVAC) from 2020 to 2022.
