Jim Poehling retired from a long career in healthcare administration in 2008, thereafter returning to serve as executive director of the Thompson Center until 2010. He finished his formal career as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences at University of Missouri Healthcare in 2013, and has since served on the Thompson Foundation Board and has taken on some consulting work. He lives with his wife Ann in Glen Carbon, Illinois, with two daughters and five grandchildren nearby.
