Paul Ownby has over 30 years of work experience, starting in 1992 as an Associate Engineering Consultant at P. D. Ownby & Associates. Paul then worked as a Brazilian Tour Assistant at Walt Disney World in 1996. In 1997, they served as a CougarNet Support Representative at Brigham Young University. From 1998 to 1999, they worked as Reseller Support at aVirt Gateway Solutions. In 1999, they joined Inari, Inc. as a Product Manager.
In 2000, Paul joined Learning.com where they held multiple roles, including Product Manager, Senior Product Manager, and Director of Product Management. Their responsibilities included leading new product development, launching new products nationally, and collaborating with marketing and sales for product rollout and growth. Paul also established processes for development and communication of product updates, implemented Agile development processes, and mentored product managers.
In 2012, Paul became the Director of Product Management and Content Development at Learning.com, where they led two departments and facilitated career growth opportunities for content developers. Paul also collaborated with senior leadership teams, evaluated build versus buy partnership opportunities, and prioritized product features based on market analysis.
From 2016 to 2020, Paul worked as the Director of Product Strategy and Senior Product Manager at Learning.com. During this time, they evaluated and established new content partnerships, developed sales tools, and launched new coding curriculum products. Paul also initiated user testing and optimized development processes.
In 2021, Paul joined Imagine Learning as the Product Operations Director, where they implemented common processes and templates for product management based on the Quartz Open Framework. Paul also established information sharing practices, implemented tools for feedback gathering, and prioritized features.
Currently, Paul is working at Thrive TRM as the Director of Product Management Operations since 2022.
Paul Ownby earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University between 1992 and 1998. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications including Quartz Open Framework Certified from Product Growth Leaders in November 2021 and PMC Level I from Pragmatic Institute in April 2021.
