Kurt Steege

Chief Technology Officer at Thundercat Technology

Kurt Steege has extensive work experience in various companies and roles. Kurt served as the Chief Technology Officer at ThunderCat Technology since 2016. Prior to that, they worked at MacAndrews & Forbes as the CIO/Vice President of IT from 2013 to 2015, where they established a vision and strategy for IT transformation and created a cross-company Cyber Security practice.

Before joining MacAndrews & Forbes, Steege was the Chief Enterprise Architect at the FBI from 2009 to 2013. In this role, they established the Information Technology vision and strategy for the FBI's IT branch and created a Shared Services Strategy.

Steege also had roles at Princeton University as a Track and Field Official from 2000 to 2010, and at EMC as a Senior Solutions Architect from 2008 to 2009, where they led initiatives around Microsoft technologies.

Furthermore, they worked at Barclays Capital (formerly Lehman Brothers) as a Vice President for a brief period in 2008. Steege also served as the Vice President, Global Messaging Architect at Lehman Brothers from 2005 to 2008, overseeing the messaging infrastructure for multiple business lines.

Earlier in their career, they worked at Instinet Corporation as a Systems Engineer and Lead Exchange Architect from 2003 to 2005, where they led the deployment and design of Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes systems. Before that, they were a Lead Exchange Consultant at Immedient from 1996 to 2003, where they led multiple platform migrations and deployment projects.

Kurt Steege received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology from the University of Michigan, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Kurt furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biology from Hofstra University, completing it between 1992 and 1995.

In addition to their formal education, Kurt also obtained a certification in the Applied Data Science Program from MIT Professional Education in November 2022.
