Calvin Govender

Calvin Govender is an experienced mining professional currently serving as a Mining Manager at Thungela since June 2021. Previously, Calvin held the position of Technical Services Manager at Anglo American from October 2017 to June 2021 and at Glencore Coal SA from May 2012 to September 2017, where responsibilities included managing operations and production for large opencast mining activities. Earlier roles included Technical Services Manager at Xstrata Coal / Glencore, focusing on life of mine planning and optimization, and Survey Manager at Anglo Coal, overseeing all mine survey related work. Calvin obtained a Master of Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand between 2014 and 2017.
