Leah Shafer

Leah Shafer has a diverse work experience. Leah began their career in 2015 as a Substitute Teacher for Jamestown Public Schools, where they maintained day-to-day classroom management and discipline to promote learning initiatives. In 2016, they took on a role as a Waitress at The Boatyard Grille, where they carried trays, took orders, provided information about the menu items, and processed sales transactions. In 2017, Leah worked for both Urban Spin and Sharecare. At Urban Spin, they worked as a Marketing Assistant, coordinating health promotion events to attract new clients, running the Urban Spin social media platforms, and creating a Spin-A-Thon. At Sharecare, they held two roles: Health Coach and Coach Operations Manager. As a Health Coach, they encouraged clients to set health related goals and provided education regarding nutrition, exercise, stress management, and tobacco cessation. As a Coach Operations Manager, they were responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, managing, and developing a team of 12-15 health coaches. In 2020, Leah began working for Noom Inc. as a Virtual Health Coach, where they worked with clients to facilitate behavior change through goal setting and motivational interviewing. Currently, Leah is working for Thyme Care as a Care Partner and for Indiana State University as a Personal Trainer, where they create individualized fitness plans catered to clients long-term vision and short-term goals, guides clients through workouts, and trains clients on a variety of strength training exercises, cardiovascular movements, and stretching techniques.

Leah Shafer obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public and Community Health from Ithaca College between 2013 and 2017. Leah has also obtained certifications from the American Red Cross, American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness), and other institutions. These certifications include CPR and First Aid obtained in September 2021, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer - Health Fitness Instructor (CPFT-) obtained in September 2019, and Certified Personal Trainer obtained in September 2021.
