James R. Chambers

Mr. James R. Chambers has served as Chairman of the TIAA Board since July 9, 2021. He was a director and the President and CEO of Weight Watchers International, Inc. (“Weight Watchers”) from 2013 to 2016, and also served as its President and Chief Operating Officer in 2013. Mr. Chambers served as a special advisor to the Weight Watchers board of directors in 2016. He is chairman of the board of directors of Big Lots, Inc., and has served on the Investment Committee of Atlantic Health System since 2021. Mr. Chambers earned a B.S.E. from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Chambers provides expertise in the areas of business management, governance and financial reporting and qualifies as an “audit committee financial expert” under SEC guidelines.
