Kjetil Sørtun has over 20 years of work experience in the technology industry. Kjetil began their career in 1997 as a College Lecturer and Assistant Professor II at NITH, where they were responsible for System Development courses and lecturing in System Development, Programming and Project courses. In 2000, they moved to EDB Business Partners ASA as a Department Manager/Teamleader and Chief Consultant, where they were responsible for a department of 12 employees, coordinating external consultant hiring, and mentoring in J2EE Technology. In 2007, they joined Mobiletech AS as Head of Deliveries/Product Manager, where they were responsible for Product Management for DataWarehouse services and Mobile Marketing software. In 2009, they founded KS Consulting, a sole proprietorship with a focus on assisting former employers and small development projects. Kjetil also served as CTO at Odin Systems AS and Delfi Data AS, where they were responsible for operations and development, project management, and collaboration with partners. In 2016, they joined KPMG Norway as a Senior Manager, working with people and systems to make them better and ready for the future. From 2018 to 2021, they were Head of Banking Services, Head of Enterprise Architecture and Vendor Management, and Head of Enterprise Architecture at Sparebanken Vest. Kjetil is currently Chief Technology Officer/Chief Product Officer (CTO/CPO) at Attent AS, where they are responsible for the AI-driven future of dental health.

Kjetil Sørtun's education history began in 1987 when they attended Askøy Videregående Skole, studying Economics. In 1989, they graduated with a Høyskolekandidat BI from BI Norwegian Business School. From 1991 to 1993, they attended Befalsskolen for Marinen. From 1993 to 1995, Kjetil Sørtun earned a Cand. Mag in IT from the University of Bergen (UiB). In 1995 to 1996, they took Master Courses in System Development at the University of Bergen (UiB).
