Christian Szautner

Christian Szautner is currently the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Legal Officer at TIFF Investment Management. Christian has over twenty years of experience in corporate law and the financial services industry, including three years as a law firm partner and twelve years in-house at the GC/CCO level. Christian is a creative problem solver and critical thinker, balanced with a practical, results-oriented management style. Christian has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Christian is a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on matters related to the Advisers Act, Investment Company Act, FINRA regulations, AML regulations, and CFTC and NFA regulations. Christian has extensive experience with cybersecurity and information security, insurance coverages, operational and compliance due diligence, vendor oversight, Board reporting and support, matters related to public company registration, listing and regulatory filings, and general corporate law matters. Christian is very sensitive to balancing legal requirements with business objectives and is well practiced in “thinking like a business person” while also thoroughly and thoughtfully analyzing issues from a legal perspective. Christian has the highest ethical standards with a proven track record of skillfully articulating creative solutions to problems and maintaining a calm and steady demeanor, even in the face of stressful situations. Christian has sound judgment developed over twenty years of serving as a partner at a large, sophisticated law firm and as an in-house chief compliance officer and general counsel at a financial services firm. Christian has deep experience in dealing with legal and business issues in a highly regulated, fast-moving industry (financial services).

Christian Szautner attended the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School from 1994 to 1997. Christian then went on to Penn State University and earned a B.A. in International Politics and Sociology in 1990. Lastly, they attended Bethlehem Catholic High School from 1986 to 1990.
