Andrea McAlister AHRNZ

Andrea McAlister has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Andrea currently works for Timaru District Council as an Engagement and Culture Manager, where they provide senior HR advice to managers and acts as the second in charge for the Director of Engagement and Culture. Andrea also mentors and provides leadership to the Engagement and Culture Advisor and Coordinator. Prior to this, they worked as an Engagement & Culture Business Partner and a People and Capability Business Partner at the same organization.

Before joining Timaru District Council, Andrea served as the Waimate Kindergartens Association Board Chair for Waimate Kindergartens. And earlier, they had a long tenure with the South Canterbury District Health Board. There, they held various roles including HR Business Partner & Project Lead, Human Resources Advisor, HR Advisor/Resident Medical Officer Coordinator, and Clinical Secretary. In their HR roles, they provided leadership, coordination, and advisory support to junior doctors and the corporate directorate. Additionally, they served as a Clinical Secretary to several Consultant Psychiatrists.
