Michael Doery

Michael Doery has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Michael has held various positions in different companies, showcasing their expertise in finance, accounting, and auditing.

Starting in 2004, Doery worked as a Managing Director at Protiviti Inc., where they provided accounting research guidance and strategic guidance on corporate governance to clients. Michael then became an Independent Consultant/Owner at Michael Doery CPA, where they offered technical assistance to smaller public accounting firms and acted as a Program Management Office (PMO) for a major acquisition.

After that, Doery joined Jefferson Wells USA as the Director of Finance & Risk Advisory Services, where they led the Finance & Accounting Practice in the Tri-State Region. Michael handled various projects, including software revenue recognition accounting and account reconciliation for financial institutions.

Subsequently, Doery worked at Crowe Horwath LLP as the Business Risk Services Internal Audit Practice Lead, where they provided Internal Audit/SOX 404/Risk services to companies in the Tri-State area. Michael also led the SOX 404 compliance effort for a public insurance company.

In 2014, Doery joined Horace Mann as the AVP - Director of Internal Audit. Michael was responsible for executing and administering the SOX 404/302 program and assessing the impact of new accounting standards on internal controls.

Doery then worked at BDO USA, LLP as the Director of Assurance Services. Michael provided external audit services to various companies, ranging from start-ups to companies with $800 million in revenues, in industries such as transportation, manufacturing, consumer products, and biotech.

In 2019, Doery started working at Innovative Perioperative Technologies, LLC as the CFO/Controller, where they prepared budgets, provided financial advice, and assessed insurance coverage requirements.

In 2021, Doery took on contract roles at various companies before joining Timber Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as the Corporate Financial Controller.

Michael Doery attended Pace University - Lubin School of Business and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Public Accounting. In 1991, they also obtained a certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the New York State Education Department. Later, in 2012, they obtained another certification as a Chartered Global Management Accountant from the AICPA.
