Tirana International Airport

Tirana International Airport (TIA) is the main gateway to Albania and the country’s most important international airport. Located just 15 km from the capital Tirana, TIA plays a vital role in linking Albania with Europe and beyond, serving millions of passengers every year, including the Albanian and Balkan diaspora. The airport has experienced consistent and remarkable growth. From handling about 600,000 passengers in 2005, TIA achieved a record 10.7 million passengers in 2024, making it the fastest-growing airport in Europe with a passenger growth rate of 224% compared to 2019. According to ACI, passenger growth in 2025 is projected at 56%, further confirming TIA’s position as the gateway to Albanian tourism and a leading international airport in the Western Balkans, bridging communities worldwide and supporting Albania’s role as a premier destination for tourism, commerce, and investment. Since December 2020, TIA has been managed by Kastrati Group. As part of this long-term partnership, over €100 million have already been invested in infrastructure and operations, including €5 million dedicated to sustainability projects. The concession runs until 2040, during which TIA will continue to expand its infrastructure, enhance service quality, and implement advanced technology for efficiency and safety. With modern check-in facilities, e-gates, state-of-the-art security systems, and an ongoing focus on innovation and passenger experience, TIA is committed to providing world-class services while supporting Albania’s economic growth. Guided by its mission and vision, TIA strives to promote global connectivity, expand route development, and foster sustainable growth, positioning itself as the leading airport in the Western Balkans.
