Karen Yelsey

Karen Yelsey is currently Vice-President of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District that oversees 32 schools and 22,000 students. She presently is serving her third 4-year term. During this time, she has contributed to advances in academic programs as well as new and improved facilities for all schools in the district.

Prior to her service on the School Board, Karen was a leader in the public schools her children attended in Newport Beach and made a long-term commitment to improve them.

Karen’s previous experience includes working in senior marketing positions at Hunt-Wesson Foods, Neutrogena Corporation and a consulting firm. She holds a BA in Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Tulane University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
