Dr. Shahzad Cheema

Dr. Shahzad Cheema has extensive work experience in the field of AI and data science. Dr. Shahzad currently works as a Lead AI Algorithms Expert at Huawei Nuremberg Research Center. Prior to this, they worked at Tkxel as an AI Coach and Strategist, where they provided advice on design, architecture, and best practices for AI solutions and trained and mentored a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers.

Dr. Cheema also worked at IBM as a Quantum Ambassador, where they organized workshops and lectures on Quantum Computing and explored applications of Quantum Computing in industrial scenarios. Dr. Shahzad also served as a Lead Data Scientist - Industrial Applications at IBM, working on various AI projects in areas such as autonomous driving and connected vehicles.

Before joining IBM, Dr. Cheema worked at DHL as a Data Scientist - Senior Expert. In this role, they delivered data science solutions for different business units of the company, including forecasting mail volumes, optimizing route and resource plans, and providing consultancy for various data analytics projects.

Dr. Cheema's work experience also includes positions as a Data Scientist at travel audience GmbH - An Amadeus Company, where they worked on performance marketing based on Big Data related to travel and tourism events, and as a Researcher/PhD Scholar at Bonn University, where they focused on automatic activity recognition in large image and video databases.

Additionally, Dr. Cheema worked as a Research Associate at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, where they contributed to the XPERO project, focusing on developing machine learning techniques for robotic discovery. Dr. Shahzad started their career as a Lecturer at the University of the Punjab.

Dr. Shahzad Cheema has a strong educational background with a focus on computer science, mathematics, machine learning, and robotics. Dr. Shahzad obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from The University of Bonn between 2010 and 2014. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Autonomous Systems (robotics) with a specialization in Machine Learning and Robotics Discovery from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, graduating in 2010. Dr. Cheema also holds Master's degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of the Punjab, which they earned in 2003 and 2002 respectively.

In addition to their formal degrees, Dr. Cheema has acquired a variety of certifications to enhance their expertise. Dr. Shahzad is an IBM Quantum Ambassador and obtained certifications as an IBM Quantum Conversations participant, an Automotive Insights and Solutions (Bronze) recipient, an IBM Mentor, an IBM Recognized Speaker/Presenter, and an IBM Recognized Teacher/Educator. Dr. Shahzad has also completed the Apache Spark - Data Science Track certification through Databricks and attended a Spark Development Bootcamp conducted by Big Data Partnership. Furthermore, Dr. Cheema has an IoT certification from IBM for the overview of the IBM Watson IoT Platform. Dr. Shahzad also holds a logistics certification as a Certified Logistic Professional from DHL.
