Jan Velasco has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. They started their career as a Peer Educator at SISSTER, where they educated and supported survivors of sexual assault. Jan then worked as a Certified Barista at Starbucks for two years before transitioning to the role of Director of Philanthropy and Service at SDSU Greek Life Activities Board.
In 2019, Jan took on multiple roles at SDSU Psi Chi and Psychology Club, serving as the Vice President and later as the A.S. College of Sciences Student Council Representative. They were responsible for organizing weekly meetings, coordinating guest speakers, and improving the overall student experience in the Psychology department.
Jan also gained experience in the field of mental health as a Behavioral Therapist at Trumpet Behavioral Health, providing ABA services to children with Autism. At Solara Mental Health, they worked as a Mental Health Technician, supporting therapists and case managers in client supervision and fostering a safe environment.
Currently, Jan is employed as a Patient Care Coordinator at Mindful Health Solutions. Their responsibilities include coordinating patient care and ensuring smooth operations within the organization.
Jan Velasco completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Clinical Psychology from San Diego State University, starting in 2017 and ending in 2021. Alongside their undergraduate studies, Jan also pursued a minor in Biology during the same period at the same university.
In 2020, Jan obtained certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Continuing their education, Jan enrolled in Palo Alto University in 2022 to pursue a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling Psychology, which they are expected to complete in 2024.
Additionally, in January 2023, Jan received Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
