Lin Kung has a vast work experience spanning over several years. They started their career as a Research Scientist at THE FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY in 1984 and then moved on to become a Research and Development Scientist at General Tire/Continental Tire from 1985 to 1995. During this time, they conducted tire noise, vibration, and harshness research using computer simulation tools. They then joined Gast Manufacturing as a Research and Development Scientist, where they worked on air processing equipment research and development and received a granted US patent.

In 2001, Lin Kung joined Kumho Tire America Technical Center as a Senior Research Scientist. Here, they were responsible for all noise, vibration, and harshness activities for the North American original equipment and replacement equipment market. Their work involved computer simulations, vehicle/tire noise evaluation and diagnostics, load deflection machine tests, and tire electric conductivity tests.

After ten years at Kumho Tire, Lin Kung moved to Nexen Tire America Technology Center in 2011, where they held the position of NVH Project Manager. They conducted numerous tire/vehicle noise, vibration, and harshness engineering activities, including computer simulations and field tests. They also researched and developed methods for testing tire interior noise using artificial intelligence screening. During their tenure at Nexen Tire, they filed three US patent applications, which are currently in progress.

In 2021, Lin Kung joined TMSI LLC as their Chief Technology Officer. Their current role and responsibilities with the company are not specified.

Lastly, Lin Kung retired from their work in a private company in April 2023. The details of the role or company are not provided.

Lin Kung's education history begins in 1977, when they attended the University of Detroit Mercy and obtained a Master of Engineering Management degree in Engineering/Industrial Management in 1979. Following this, from 1979 to 1981, Lin Kung pursued a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Noise and Vibration at Purdue University. Later, from 1981 to 1984, Lin Kung furthered their education at Purdue University and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, Lin Kung obtained the Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the State of Ohio in January 2020.
