Geert Houben

Geert Houben is a distinguished professor at UMC Utrecht since 2011, specializing in food-borne risk factors related to allergic and inflammatory diseases. Concurrently, since 1996, Geert Houben has held multiple senior roles at TNO, including Principal Scientist in Food Allergy and Immunotoxicology, Business Line Manager in Food Safety, and Deputy Department Manager in Food & Chemical Risk Analysis. Geert Houben's early career included a position as Toxicologist at Utrecht University from 1987 to 1996, with responsibilities as project leader and study director at TNO Nutrition and Food Research, along with a trainee role at the Utrecht Toxicology Center. Geert Houben earned a PhD in Toxicology, focusing on Food Toxicology and Immunotoxicology, and previously obtained a Master's degree in Biology with a specialization in Biomedical Sciences from Utrecht University.
