David Samuel has a rich and diverse work experience. David started their career at Oracle as a Software Engineer from September 1994 to January 1996. After that, they became the Founder and CEO of Spinner.com, an Internet music service, from March 1996 to June 2000, during which time the company was acquired by AOL for $320 million. Following this, they founded Grouper, now known as Crackle, in October 2003 and served as the President until March 2008 when the company was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment for $65 million. In September 2003, David also co-founded Brondell Inc., the first American-based company to develop high-tech toilet seats, and served as the Founder Chairman until July 2010. In 2008, they became a Founding General Partner at Freestyle Capital, a venture capital firm that has invested in various successful companies. David's most recent venture is Toi Labs, a company they co-founded in May 2018 with a focus on waste analysis before it is flushed down the toilet.
David Samuel attended Waterville High School from 1986 to 1990, earning a high school diploma. Following that, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a specialization in 6.1 (EE).
