Chong Luo has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and research. They are currently employed at Tome Biosciences as the Director of Cell Therapy, a position they have held since July 2022. Prior to this, Chong worked as an Associate Director of Ex Vivo Therapies at Tome Biosciences from October 2021 to June 2022.
Before joining Tome Biosciences, Chong Luo worked at Vor Biopharma for three years. They started as a Scientist II in January 2018 and progressed to become a Senior Scientist in March 2019. In November 2020, Chong was promoted to the position of Principal Scientist before leaving Vor Biopharma in October 2021.
Chong's career began at Tsinghua University, where they served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant from 2008 to 2010. They then joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a Predoctoral Researcher in July 2010 and later took on the role of Postdoctoral Researcher from February 2016 to July 2016. Chong also demonstrated leadership skills during their time at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center by serving as the Co-chair of the Gerstner Sloan Kettering Women in Science Group (GWIS) from 2013 to 2015.
Additionally, Chong was involved in promoting women in STEM through their role as the Institutional Representative for New York Women in STEM (NYWiSTEM). They represented Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in a network of scientists from various institutions in the NY metropolitan area. During this time, Chong conducted an advocacy survey with over 600 participants to improve the quality of life for women in STEM.
Chong also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant for Cancer Immunology at Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 2014.

Chong Luo holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cancer Biology and Immunology from the Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Prior to that, Chong earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences (Highest Honors) from Tsinghua University. In addition to these educational qualifications, Chong Luo has also obtained a certification in Health Care Economics from Harvard Business School Online in September 2021.
