Bret Derman

Bret Derman's work experience includes holding the role of General Counsel at TopView since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at BNY Mellon from August 2017 to September 2022, serving as Vice President, Senior Specialist, Market Client Risk Management. At BNY Mellon, they negotiated corporate trust structured finance transactions and handled complex transaction documents. Before that, they worked as a Consultant at Apex Systems from February 2017 to August 2017, providing consulting services to The Bank of New York Mellon. From 2015 to 2017, Derman worked as a Legal Consultant at Bret S. Derman Legal Consulting. Bret also held various roles at Radian Asset Assurance Inc. from 1997 to 2015, including Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Head of Structured Products Workouts. Additionally, Derman worked at Enhance Financial Services Group Inc. from 1997 to 2015 as Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Bret started their career as a Corporate Associate at Rogers & Wells, now known as Clifford Chance US LLP, from September 1992 to April 1997.

Bret Derman holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from Harvard Law School, where they focused on the study of law. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy (Economics) from The Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, they are a certified member of the New York Bar, having obtained this certification from the New York Bar in December 1993.
