Sari Backman

Sari Backman has a diverse work experience spanning a variety of roles and industries. Sari started their career in 1995 at Nokia, where they worked in sourcing management for almost a decade. Sari then joined Wärtsilä, where they held positions such as Category Manager, Manager of Delivery Development, and Project Manager, overseeing global projects and managing supplier relationships. After that, they joined Digita Networks as a Sourcing Manager and Project Sourcing Manager, focusing on category strategy, investments, and vendor management. Sari then co-founded and served as CEO of Marabas Oy, where they set up activities in Spain and managed sourcing, manufacturing, and recruitment. Most recently, they worked at ValueSource Partners as a Sourcing Manager before joining the City of Tornio as the Chief Procurement Officer.

Sari Backman has a diverse education history beginning with their Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kemi-Tornion AMK and Polytechnic, Engineering & Technology in the years 1996-2000. Sari continued their education at the Business College, earning a B.Sc. in ADP between 1990 and 1992.

Sari then pursued further education in the field of education, completing basic studies in Educational Sciences at the University of Oulu from 2010 to 2011. Sari also obtained 60 credits in Vocational Teacher Education from Oulu University of Applied Sciences in 2009-2010.

In 2014-2015, Sari Backman studied Educational Psychology as part of their basic studies at the University of Lapland. Next, they pursued subject-related studies in Adult Education and Pedagogics at the University of Jyväskylä, earning 40 credits from 2015 to 2016.

Finally, they obtained a Master's degree in Adult Pedagogics from Lapin yliopisto, Uni Lapland in 2016-2019. Sari'sstudies during this period also included extended minor studies in Social Sciences and Applied Psychology.
