Joanna Obre

Joanna Obre has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Joanna has worked as a Recreation Therapist at Toronto Grace Health Centre, specializing in Acquired Brain Injury, Complex Continuing Care, Rehab, and Palliative Care since September 2016. Prior to this, they were a PT Cashier at David's Footwear from December 2014 to February 2018. Joanna also worked as a Program Facilitator at Corbrook Awakening Abilities from August 2015 to September 2016, where they provided support and training for individuals with varying levels of abilities. Joanna gained experience in Recreation Therapy as a Placement Student at Four Elms Retirement Residence from June 2015 to August 2015 and as a Recreation Therapist Intern at Toronto Grace Health Centre from January 2015 to April 2015. Additionally, Joanna has experience as a Placement Student at Corbrook Awakening Abilities from September 2014 to December 2014. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Part-Time Floor Supervisor at Nine West - Sherson Group, where they provided excellent customer service and assisted with store management from December 2008 to December 2014. Joanna also worked as an Administrative Assistant at Mint Bar Toronto from February 2010 to February 2011 and as a Tutor/Teacher at WTC Agency from November 2008 to January 2011. Joanna began their career as an Assistant Manager at Xcetera Bentley Group.

Joanna Obre completed their Honours Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation degree from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, specializing in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy, from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued Health and Physical Education/Fitness and Kinesiology at the University of Toronto from 2003 to 2006, but their degree name was not specified.

In addition to their formal education, Joanna has obtained several certifications. In August 2022, they completed the Palliative Care in Dementia Training from the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. In November 2019, they received a Dementia Certificate from the U-First P.I.E.C.E.S program, also from the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. In May 2019, they obtained a Standard First Aid certification with CPR-C from the Heart and Stroke organization. In July 2018, they completed Safe Management Training, although the institution was not specified. In August 2016, they received the OCASI Access and Equity: Accessibility Training from the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants. Furthermore, in October 2015, they completed the TCPS 2: CORE training, however, no institution was specified for these last two certifications.
