Katherine Miles has an extensive work history in human resources. Katherine currently holds the position of Head of HR - UK at Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, where they are responsible for retail technology and manages a team of approximately 105 people across the UK. Katherine also serves as a business partner at all levels up to the Director level and leads the European-wide Employee Engagement Survey.
Prior to their current role, Katherine worked for Toshiba TEC UK Imaging Systems Ltd. as the Head of HR, overseeing approximately 220 people within TUIS and 135 people in TGCS across the UK. Katherine provided business partnership up to the Managing Director level and managed a small team. Katherine also worked as an HR Business Partner in the same company, where they partnered with senior managers, handled full generalist HR responsibilities, and supported interview processes, performance management, employee relations, and coaching.
Before joining Toshiba, Katherine worked as an HR Business Partner at Smiths News, where they supported the newspaper distribution sector of the business and partnered with directors. Katherine also has experience as an HR Administrator at Cambian Group - The Forum School and held roles related to recruitment and administration at Manpower Australia, On The Ball Personnel Australasia Pty Ltd, Financial Ombudsman Service, BMT Defence Services Ltd, Community Therapeutic Services, and Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Through their various roles, Katherine has gained comprehensive experience in HR, including business partnering, team management, employee engagement, recruitment, and generalist HR responsibilities.
Katherine Miles has an extensive education history in various fields of study. In 2002, they completed their GCSEs and A-Levels at The Blandford School, achieving 11 GCSEs with grades A-C and pursuing Business Studies, ICT, and Economics at the A-Level.
From 2007 to 2011, Katherine attended the University of the West of England, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Business Studies with a specialization in Human Resource Management.
In 2015, Katherine enrolled at the CIPD and completed the Experience Assessment, which made their an Associate CIPD Member. Katherine continued their education in human resources and personnel administration at the CIPD in 2016, earning a certificate in NLP Practitioner and Life & Business Coaching.
The following year, in 2017, they pursued a Master NLP Practitioner certification at The UK College of Personal Development. This was followed by further professional development in coaching and mentoring, as they obtained an ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring from the same institution in 2023.
Additionally, Katherine has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2016, they became an Associate CIPD Member. Katherine went on to receive the Mental Health First Aider certification from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England in December 2017. In August 2018, they acquired the Anxiety Coaching 2 Day Workshop certification from the UK College of Personal Development.
Continuing their commitment to professional growth, Katherine achieved the Chartered MCIPD qualification from the CIPD in July 2019. Most recently, in April 2021, they completed a Mental Health First Aid Refresher course provided by BTG Training - Mental Health First Aid Instructors.
