Group Lead - Cell Biology at Touchlight Genetics

Sungwon Kim is currently the Group Lead - Cell Biology at Touchlight starting from June 2023. Prior to this role, Sungwon was a Senior Scientist - Vaccines at Touchlight starting from February 2020. Sungwon also worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at The Royal Veterinary College, University of London from March 2018 to January 2020. Before that, Sungwon was a Research Fellow at The Roslin Institute, R(D)SVS, University of Edinburgh from June 2014 to February 2018. Sungwon has prior experience working as a Post-Doctoral Associate at Virginia Tech from January 2012 to April 2014 and also served as a Teaching Assistant/Research Assistant at Virginia Tech from January 2008 to December 2011. Sungwon has additional research experience as a Research Assistant at Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute from July 2007 to November 2007 and at the University of Delaware from August 2003 to June 2007. Sungwon also worked as a Visiting Scientist at the USDA-ARS from March 2001 to March 2003.

Sungwon Kim began their education at Changwon National University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from 1992 to 1999. Sungwon then pursued a Master of Science degree in Biology from the same university, which they completed between 1999 and 2001. Afterward, Sungwon Kim attended the University of Delaware, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from 2003 to 2007. Lastly, they attended Virginia Tech, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Sciences from 2008 to 2011.
