Britany J Waddell

Britany J Waddell, AICP, CZO, currently serves as the Planning Director for the Town of Chapel Hill, NC, a position held since February 2023. Prior to this role, Waddell was the Assistant Planning Director for the City of Raleigh Municipal Government from January 2020 to February 2023, where oversight of zoning and land development processes was a key responsibility. Waddell also served as the Deputy Director of Planning and Zoning for Calvert County Government, focusing on long-range planning and development policy implementation from September 2017 to January 2020. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of Community Relations at The George Washington University, managing community outreach across three campuses from July 2007 to September 2017, and working as a Community Development Planner for the City of Monroe, NC, from June 2003 to July 2007. Waddell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient/Medieval History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and both a Master of Professional Studies in Urban and Regional Planning from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wake Forest University.
