Susan Barksdale

Susan Barksdale, SHRM-SCP has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Susan most recently served as the Human Resources Director at the Town of Darien starting in July 2022. Prior to that, they were the Human Resources Committee Chair at Sterling House Community Center Inc. starting in March 2018. Susan also worked at the Town of Stratford, where they held positions as the Assistant Human Resources Director from September 2011 to July 2022 and as a Human Resources Generalist from July 2011 to September 2018. Susan previously worked as a Practice Manager at Financial Wings from February 2008 to July 2011. Susan's earlier work experience includes a role as a Designer & Co-owner at Susan Flynn Barksdale Designs from January 2000 to January 2010 and a position as a Member/Co-Chairman at the Stratford Board of Education from December 2005 to December 2009. Susan began their professional career as an Engineer at Rocketdyne from September 1988 to August 1995.

Susan Barksdale, SHRM-SCP, holds an impressive education history. Susan earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering (BSAE) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the years 1984 to 1988. Building on their undergraduate education, Susan pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business from Pepperdine University between 1992 and 1994.

In terms of professional certifications, Susan obtained their SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification in May 2018. Susan also completed the SHRM SCP Certification Prep program at Fairfield University in 2018. Additionally, Susan obtained the Mental Health First Aid USA certification from the National Council for Behavioral Health in February 2023.

Completing their formal education, Susan earned their High School Diploma from Lauralton Hall in the years 1980 to 1984. This diploma focused on College Prep, providing a solid foundation for their future academic and professional endeavors.
