Nathan Kannas

Nathan Kannas is an experienced public safety professional with a solid background in firefighting, emergency management, and union leadership. Currently serving as a Staff Representative for the Uniformed Professional Firefighters of Connecticut since January 2023, Nathan Kannas also holds the position of Union President for Groton Telecommunicators, IAFF Local 5378. Nathan's career includes significant roles such as Public Safety Telecommunicator for the Town of Groton and Deputy Emergency Management Director for the City of Norwich. Previously, Nathan Kannas served as a Fire Lieutenant and Union President for Norwich Firefighters, IAFF Local 892. Nathan’s foundational experience began in the United States Coast Guard as a Boatswain Mate Third Class. Nathan holds a Juris Doctor degree from Western New England University School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut.
