Jason Baird

Software Engineering Manager - Mobile at TrackVia

Jason Baird has a diverse and extensive work experience. Jason began their career in 2014 as a Mobile Software Developer Contractor for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, where they designed and developed the cross-platform iOS, Android, and web app Moniker for crowdsourcing the identification of wild animals caught on camera traps. Jason also designed and developed the iOS data entry app SiteLog, used internally by Fish & Wildlife to catalog management actions taken on wetlands. In 2016, they moved to Asynchrony Labs, where they developed a shopping list iOS app for a major supermarket and led a development team creating a web app used to manage and display dynamic content on distributed screens in a high-tech facilities tour at World Wide Technology. In 2018, they joined TrackVia, Inc. as a Software Engineer, where they rewrote the iOS application from scratch in Swift over the course of eight months, converted the code base to RxSwift in the process, and eliminated outdated inheritance-based architecture, replacing it with composition and protocol-driven architecture instead. Jason was then promoted to Senior Software Engineer, where they updated the application’s offline functionality to work in areas of low connectivity. Finally, they were promoted to Software Engineering Manager - Mobile, where they developed a low/no-code platform for mobile app development on iOS and led a cross-functional iOS and Android agile delivery team, releasing a significant redesign of the most important parts of both iOS and Android apps.

Jason Baird attended Trinity College from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science.
