Ian MacDonald has a diverse work experience in marketing and leadership roles. Ian currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer at AutoTrader.ca, where they have successfully increased website visits and market share. Prior to this, they were the Vice President of Strategic Marketing at AutoTrader.ca. Ian has also worked as an Independent Marketing Consultant, Partner, and Vice President of Brand Strategy & Media at CO-OP. Ian has held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at Chefs Plate and Vice President of Marketing (contract) at VarageSale. Additionally, Ian has extensive experience at autoTRADER.ca and AutoTrader UK, where they held various marketing positions and contributed to significant growth in consumer audience and traffic respectively. Earlier in their career, Ian worked at Prudential UK, RBS Insurance, and Alexander Forbes in campaign management and marketing consulting roles.
Ian MacDonald completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the University of Southampton from 2000 to 2003. In 2007, they received a CIM Diploma in Marketing from the University of London. In 2022, they pursued a Marketing Week Mini MBA program with Mark Ritson to enhance their knowledge in Marketing Communications. Following this, in 2023, they further expanded their expertise by completing another Marketing Week Mini MBA program with Mark Ritson, this time focusing on Brand Management.
