Maru Carrion

Maru Carrion has worked in the design and product space for the past 8 years. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Product Designer for DoorDash. From 2020 to 2021, they were the Founding Designer & Design Manager at TradeWing, where they were the first Design Hire and was responsible for bringing Design Thinking and Design leadership into Tradewing's product development process. From 2017 to 2020, they were Product Design Manager and Product Designer at 15Five, where they managed a team of 3 Mid and Senior Product Designers and led Design Strategy for the Growth portfolio. Maru also designed and launched 15Fives first Freemium offering that resulted in 3x sign ups within the first 2 weeks of launch. From 2015 to 2017, they were Product Designer & Researcher - TS Futures Lead at Townsquared, where they led a new product initiative from stage zero Research to Beta. In 2014, they were a UX / Design Research Intern at Townsquared and an Audi Innovation Research (AIR) Fellow at AUDI AG. In 2013, they were a Digital Content Developer at BBDO Puerto Rico Inc.

Maru Carrion obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Interaction Design from the California College of the Arts between 2013 and 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's in Environmental Design (Architecture) from the University of Puerto Rico between 2009 and 2012. They also attended two short courses: Parametric Environmental Design at Elisava, Escola superior de disseny i enginyeria de Barcelona in 2011, and Environmental Design and Construction + Architecture at Stanford University in 2011.
