Tom Whelan, Ph.D. has an extensive work experience. Tom started their career in 2002 as a Forensic Mental Health Case Worker at Gulf Coast Community Care. In 2005, they started working at North Carolina State University as an Undergraduate Instructor and Graduate Researcher. In 2007, they became a Global Executive Compensation Associate at Lenovo. From 2009 to 2011, they worked at Horizon Performance as an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant. From 2011 to 2014, they worked at Javelin HR Solutions as a Senior Psychometrics Consultant and Director of Assessment Operations. In 2020, they began working at North Carolina State University as a Lecturer in the industrial-organizational psychology doctoral program. Currently, they are the Director of Corporate Research at Training Industry, Inc. where they are responsible for internal and contract survey research and collateral, consulting related to strategy within various corporate training specializations.

Prior to that, they earned their Master of Science (M.S.) in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from North Carolina State University in 2008.
