James Foran has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. James currently works as a Lead Environmental Inspector at Trans Mountain, where they provide consultation on environmental plans. James is also the Director of Foran Environmental Inc., a company they started in 2020. Prior to this, James was a Senior Project Manager at Ecofish Research Ltd. From 2015 to 2019, they held the position of Director of Marketing and Communications at BCIT Student Association. James also has experience in the sales and marketing sector, having worked at Steam Whistle Brewing as well as in remote camp management at Outland Camps. James has also held positions in human resources and recreation.

James Foran attended Western University from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in Organizational and Human Resources. James later pursued Marketing Management Courses at Ryerson University from 2010 to 2011. In 2014, they obtained a Certificate in Renewable Energy from the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto. From 2015 to 2018, James completed their Master of Arts in Environmental Practice with a focus on Sustainability Studies at Royal Roads University. In 2022, they obtained a Certificate in Environmental Monitoring from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) in the field of Environmental Science. Additionally, James holds several certifications, including WHMIS 2015 and Confined Space Entry and Monitoring obtained in 2023, Avian Nest Sweeps and Monitoring Methods, Asbestos Awareness (CAN), and Environmental Professional (EP) obtained in 2021, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and Pipeline Construction Safety Training obtained in 2020, and Project Management Professional (PMP) obtained in 2018. James also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) in 2009 and holds the certification of H2S Aware obtained in 2020.
