Matt Allen

Matt Allen has a diverse work experience in the field of network engineering. Matt started their career as an IT Support & Network Support Analyst at Derbyshire Constabulary, where they provided second line support and maintained the network components. Matt then moved on to become a Network Analyst at the same company, specializing in WAN-oriented networks and managing RSA dial-in gateways.

Later, Matt joined South Yorkshire Police as a Network Engineer, where they provided third line technical network support, managing a large Cisco estate and implementing EIGRP routing changes across multiple sites.

Following that, they worked at Y Not Festivals Ltd as a Technical Manager, responsible for managing the technical aspects of the festival, including installation and maintenance of equipment, as well as setting up site-wide WiFi coverage.

After their tenure at Y Not Festivals, Matt worked at Unify Business Solutions as a Senior Network/Telephony Engineer. Matt provided 2nd/3rd line support to customers of various sizes and also designed and implemented a resilient infrastructure for Serco HMP Kilmarnock.

Matt then joined Plusnet as a Network Design Engineer, where they were responsible for BGP and OSPF changes on the core networks, assisted in the rollout of new data centers, and followed ITIL procedures for network changes.

Following that, they worked at Unify Business Solutions again, this time as a Senior Network Project Engineer. Here, they worked on network projects and provided architectural design and support.

Most recently, Matt joined Transaction Network Services as a Network Delivery Engineer and was later promoted to EMEA Network Delivery Lead. In this role, they led a team of network engineers and worked on customer and infrastructure projects. Matt also led the expansion of TNS services into AWS and developed custom AWS API functions and web GUIs for automating customer onboarding processes.

Overall, Matt Allen has gained extensive experience in network engineering, leading projects, and providing support to various organizations.

Matt Allen attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Ashbourne from 1998 to 2005. During this time, they did not obtain a specific degree or field of study. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Staffordshire University from 2005 to 2009. Matt successfully earned a 1st Class BSc (Hons) degree in Network Computing.

In addition to their formal education, Matt Allen has obtained several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field. Matt became a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in January 2020 and achieved the Fortinet Network Security Expert Level 4: Certified Professional from Fortinet in November 2020. Matt also holds certifications such as ITIL Foundation from ITIL in 2017, JNCIA from Juniper Networks in 2017, CCNA Security from Cisco in 2016, and CCNA Routing & Switching from Cisco in 2011.
