I possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, an Associate’s Degree in Psychology, and I am a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. (185th Session). My law enforcement career began with the Warrensville Heights Ohio Police Department bordering Cleveland where I held positions of Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Detective Lieutenant. I was later appointed to become the Chief of Police in Hudson, Ohio, a position I held for more than 11 years.
In 2003, I relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where I assumed the role as the Assistant Chief of Transit Public Safety for the City of Phoenix and remained there until 2007. After a brief “retirement” to pursue personal interests, I returned to the security industry in 2010 when I accepted the position of Director of Security for two of Abrazo’s Healthcare Facilities. There, I became a Certified Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor, and served as the Hospital "Safety Officer".
In May of 2015, I accepted a position with the Maricopa County Protective Services as an Officer and in December 2015, Iwas appointed to the position of Chief of Maricopa County Security Services, a Division of the Maricopa County Emergency Management Department. The Division provides an armed, uniformed presence in carrying out the responsibilities of safety and security in protecting all Maricopa County employees, visitors, guests, and high profile political and elected officials as well as physical assets. Asset protection included multiple parking structures, several multi-storied facilities, ID card badging management and system oversight, and other critical infrastructure.
An accomplished writer and orator, I have authored numerous writings on a variety of policing topics, most notably disaster/crisis management, and a number of my written works have been published at the state and national level in several policing publications. I also appeared before a sub-committee of the U.S. Senate to speak to the issue of disaster/crisis management concerns from a law enforcement perspective. I have also authored articles on such topics as, Community Oriented Policing, managing morale, and establishing essential hiring practices to enhance the potential for recruiting and retaining quality personnel.
In August of 2017, I attained my Board Certification as a “Certified Protection Professional in Security Management” (CPP) through the American Society of Industrial Security. In 2018, I joined Transcend Security as our Risk Manager where I am responsible for overall risk management and mitigation for the Company as a whole, as well as the clients we serve. I am also responsible for educating staff and clients in the areas of Active Shooter Response, Workplace Violence Awareness/Response, and Business Continuity Planning.

Qualities I value in my colleagues
I come from a strong para-military background where duty, honor, respect, character and integrity act as the building blocks of a cohesive team in addition to having a strong work ethic and unwavering sense of dedication and commitment. The need for exceptional communicative skills (people skills) combined with a sense of humor, patience, understanding, and empathy are likewise an integral component of a strong team.
My communication style
I've always prided myself in being able to communicate with people effectively, both in writing and verbally regardless of their background, educational levels, or ethnicity. I work hard to be understood and to understand. I thoroughly enjoy writing and have honed an expertise in authoring complex policies and procedures which are critical to an organization such as ours.
My pet peeves
I can honestly say that none of the "tags" selected are representative of Transcend Security Solutions which is a great place to work!!! My choices are my personal pet-peeves in any workplace environment as they are counter-productive to creating an exceptional organization.
Fun fact
I absolutely love the game of baseball and spent 30 years playing softball and 15 years playing baseball. Additionally, I also have a very deep passion and love for military aviation (fighters).
