Tom Briston

Tom Briston has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Tom is currently working as a Research Director at Transine Therapeutics since February 2023.

Prior to that, Tom worked at Eisai EMEA from 2015 to 2023. During their tenure, they held multiple roles including Senior Scientist and Project Leader, Scientist and Project Leader, and Senior Principal Researcher. In these positions, they were involved in pre-clinical drug discovery programs, collaborated with UCL academics and scientists, managed project progression, and contributed to lab-based bio-assay development and optimization.

Before joining Eisai EMEA, Tom worked at UCL from 2009 to 2015. Tom held positions such as Research Associate: Drug Discovery, Postdoctoral Research Associate, and PhD Research Student. Tom'swork focused on the UCL-Eisai drug discovery collaboration for neurodegenerative disease, where they contributed to bio-assay development, compound screening, and early-stage drug discovery programs.

Prior to their research career, Tom worked as a Pharmacist at Lloyds Pharmacy from 2009 to 2015, where they managed and provided a professional NHS and private dispensing service, offered advice and guidance to customers and patients, and was responsible for staff management and commercial aspects of the business.

Before that, they completed their training as a Pre-Registration Pharmacist at UHSM - University Hospital of South Manchester NHS FT from 2008 to 2009, which included providing independent pharmacy ward service.

In 2007, they also pursued a dissertation in Pharmacology at Københavns Universitet (University of Copenhagen). Subsequently, in 2009, they enrolled at UCL and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2013. Additionally, in August 2009, Tom obtained membership in the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPharmC), furthering their qualifications in the pharmaceutical field.
