Nagakumar Bharatham has a wealth of work experience in the field of cheminformatics and computational drug discovery. Nagakumar started their career in 2001 as a Project Trainee at GVK Biosciences. In 2002, they were promoted to Senior Scientific Associate and then to Scientific Associate, where they developed inhibitor databases and designed and developed inhibitors for various targets. From 2008 to 2010, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where they proposed a binding model of PI(3)P and UVRAG C2 domain, which was later corroborated by experimental point mutations. In 2014, they joined Bugworks Research Inc. as a Computational Chemist and was later promoted to Associate Director-Computational Drug Discovery and Principal Scientist-Computational Drug Discovery. Nagakumar also worked as a Technology Manager, Computational Drug Discovery at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP). In 2021, they joined University of Dundee as a Computational Chemist at Durg Discovery Unit (DDU). Currently, they are working as a Research Supervisor at TDU, and will be joining Transition Bio, Inc. in 2022 as a Principal Scientist-Cheminformatics.
Nagakumar Bharatham received their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Sri Venkateswara University between 1996 and 1999. Nagakumar then went on to obtain their Master of Science in Biochemistry from Acharya Nagarjuna University between 1999 and 2001. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer aided drug design from Gyeongsang National University between 2005 and 2008.
