Eddie Island

Eddie Island, MD, MBA, is an experienced transplant surgeon currently serving as an Abdominal Organ Recovery Surgeon at TransMedics, Inc. since September 2023. Prior to this role, Eddie held positions at Broward Health as a transplant surgeon and member of the Surgical Quality Management Committee from January 2022 to February 2023, and as the Director of Liver Transplant Surgery at Saint Luke's Health System from July 2016 to August 2021, where participation included the medical executive committee and chairing the hospital peer review committee. Earlier, Eddie was the Associate Director for Pediatric Transplantation at the Georgetown Transplant Institute and a transplant surgeon at the University of Miami. Eddie's educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine from Yale School of Medicine, a Master of Business Administration from Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.
