David Field

Principal Client Officer at Transport for London

David Field has a strong background in transportation planning and management. David began their career in 2007 with Transport for London, where they completed a two-year graduate training scheme. During this time, they worked on various projects, including examining bus issues and working with the Freight Unit on planning issues.

Following their graduate training, David took on roles of increasing responsibility within Transport for London. David served as an engineer for the Bus Priority Team, where they liaised with London Boroughs and London Buses to deliver the Bus Priority LIPS program. David later became a regional planner, responsible for initiating and delivering road schemes to improve journeys for Londoners. In this role, they oversaw the design, business cases, health and safety arrangements, network impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and signals arrangements for these projects.

David also served as a Principal Delivery Planner, providing transport planning and strategy for future investments in Bus Priority in London. David ensured that TfL's bus priority assets were maintained and received increased investment for reliable bus journeys. Additionally, they completed a secondment in Walking, Accessibility, and Urban Realm.

In their most recent role as Principal Client Officer, David drove improvements to the reliability and attractiveness of the London Bus network. David identified and initiated business critical bus priority programs, such as extending all bus lanes on the Transport for London Road Network to operate 24/7. David also provided technical expertise on road space design for the bus network.

Throughout their career, David has demonstrated their ability to deliver on complex transportation projects and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

David Field has an educational background in geography and transport planning. David obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Cities, Economies, and Social Change from Queen Mary University of London from 2004 to 2007. Later, from 2008 to 2010, they pursued an MSc degree in Transport Planning and Management at the University of Westminster.
