Melvyn Dresner

Principal Technical Planner at Transport for London

Melvyn Dresner has extensive work experience in the field of transportation planning and engineering. Melvyn started their career at the London Borough of Merton in 1995 as a Development Control Assistant. In 1996, they worked as a Technician at SKM Colin Buchanan before moving on to Peter Brett Associates in 1999 as an Engineer. At Peter Brett Associates, they provided advice to both private and public sector clients and led negotiations with local highway authorities. In 2005, they joined Hyder Consulting as a Senior Engineer. Melvyn then joined Transport for London in 2007 as a Principal Technical Planner, where they were responsible for assessing the impact of proposals on the transport network and developing appropriate mitigations. Finally, in 2015, they worked briefly as a Trainee Field Archaeologist at Birkbeck, University of London.

Melvyn Dresner has a diverse education history. In 1990 to 1993, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Geography with History at the University of Wolverhampton. Melvyn then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Town Planning from the University of Westminster from 1995 to 1998. In 1998 to 2001, Melvyn pursued a Diploma in Media Practice, specializing in Communication and Media Studies at Birkbeck, University of London. Moving towards archaeology, they completed the Archaeological Field School at Kent Archaeological Field School in 2014, which focused on Field Practice on Roman and Bronze Age sites. Additionally, Melvyn earned a Certificate in Higher Education in History and Archaeology from Birkbeck, University of London from 2013 to 2015. Continuing their studies in archaeology, they obtained a Master's Degree in Archaeological Practice from Birkbeck, University of London from 2014 to 2016. Melvyn pursued another Master's Degree, this time in Archaeology, at UCL from 2015 to 2016. Finally, in 2018, they completed a Master's Degree in Art and Archaeology: Contemporary Theory and Practice from UHI.
