Steve Vaccaro is a seasoned attorney and advocate for cyclists and pedestrians, currently serving as Principal at Vaccaro Law, a firm dedicated to ending traffic violence in New York and New Jersey. With extensive experience on various boards, including the New York Cycle Club and Bike New York, Vaccaro plays a crucial role in promoting cycling accessibility. Involvement with Transportation Alternatives includes advisory council duties and chairing the East Side Committee, focusing on livable street improvements in Manhattan. As a founding board member and General Counsel for StreetsPAC, Vaccaro supports candidates committed to safe urban infrastructure. Previous roles include co-founding the Law Office of Vaccaro & White, contributing to Streetsblog USA, and practicing at Debevoise & Plimpton, specializing in civil rights and tort litigation. Transportation Alternatives’ mission is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile and to advocate for better bicycling, walking, and public transit for all New Yorkers. Streets and sidewalks are 80% of our public space in New York City – but right now, our lives are polluted, congested, and endangered by car and truck traffic. Transportation Alternatives believes that this public space belongs to the people of New York City, and we are working with New Yorkers in every borough to reclaim our streets.
